Ballisodare Composting Facility

Producing a quality compost product for the people of Sligo and surrounding counties with green waste generated locally.

Our compost product produced is peat free, made from locally produced green waste and is perfect as a growing medium for all sorts of plants & vegetables, as well as a soil additive to replace or increase the organic content of over worked or poor quality soil types.

It was built & developed with assistance from the Department of the Environment with its purpose being to divert organic waste away from landfill and to use it to produce a valuable product for use locally. The facility accepts all types of green waste (including cut grass, hedge trimmings etc.) and uses the windrow composting technique to produce the compost. The facility is operated in conjunction with Ballisodare Community Council & Sligo County Council
